Bulgaria's Defence Ministry signs contract for new patrol ships

Bulgaria's Ministry of Defence has signed the contract for the construction of 2 multifunctional patrol ships. The contractor of the project is the German company Fr.Lurssen Werft "GmbH & Co. KG
“With this project we actually took the second step towards the modernization of the Bulgarian Army after the signing of the contract for the acquisition of new fighters. I hope this is not the last step," Defence Minister Karakachanov stated after the signing of the contract.
The ships are expected to be ready in 2025-26. The German company will build them in the Bulgarian shipyard "DOLPHIN", BTA reported. The price is half a billion euros and will be paid in installments.
