Bulgarian MEP Eva Maydell will continue to be president of the European Movement International until 2023. It is the largest network of 61 pro-European organizations, including trade unions, business structures, local authorities and parties from 34 European countries.

The European Movement International was established 70 years ago and the Bulgarian MEP is the first woman president of the organization, as well as the first president from Eastern Europe, 24 Chasa writes.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen personally congratulated Maydell on her re-election.

"With the joint efforts of society, doctors and scientists, we will overcome the pandemic. With ambitious budgets and investments in sustainability, we will be able to rebuild the economy," Maydell said after her re-election.
