The Center for the Study of Democracy has presented a study of public attitudes towards democracy in 2020. Bulgaria is among the countries in Central and Eastern Europe, which is alarmingly closer to authoritarianism, the center's head, Ruslan Stefanov, has told BNR.

Supporters of liberal democracy and market economy are in the age groups of 18-25 and 35-45. In all other groups, the desire for a strong hand prevails. Reasons for this are the feelings of injustice and that it did not matter what government is voted for, because there was a financial and political backstage that ruled instead of the legitimate government, Stefanov commented.
