Minimum salaries of university professors increased in new budget

The Law on the State Budget, which is voted by the parliament, provides funds for equalization of the minimum salaries of university lecturers. The minimum salary for an assistant professor will become BGN 1,300 /EUR 665/, for an associate professor - BGN 1,500 /EUR 767/, and for a full professor - BGN 1,600 /EUR 818/. 
This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev at the signing of an Agreement with the trade unions in the higher education schools. 
In the opinion of trade unionist Assoc. Prof. Lilyana Valcheva, the new agreement will solve the problem of large inequalities in the higher education system, where the salary of an assistant professor in various universities varied from BGN 700 /358 euros/ to BGN 1,600 /818 euros/, BTA reported.
