Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership - priority regions for official development assistance by Bulgaria

Photo: archive

In 2020 Bulgaria helped 18 countries under the Official Development Assistance with over 5.5 million Leva /2.8 million euro/.

A significant portion of the assistance was allocated to the countries of the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership. Sixty projects for the development of education, science, culture, social integration and civil society were financed in the two regions. 43 of them are connected with Bulgaria’s long-term political priority – the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out. More than half a million Leva (a quarter of a million euro)  was allocated to the countries of the Black Sea region – for projects in Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia.
