Parliament approves loan under EU’s SURE instrument

Bulgaria’s National Assembly has ratified without any debates the loan agreement with the EU, under which this country will receive funding to the tune of EUR 511 million, BGNES reported.

The money will go to anti-crisis measures aimed at overcoming the economic and social consequences of the coronavirus crisis. The first tranche of the funds under the European instrument for temporary support to mitigate Unemployment Risks in an Emergency (SURE) amounting to EUR 250 million is expected to come in January 2021.

It is estimated that each month, between 4,500 and 5,000 employers will receive financial support to retain around 140,000 employees.
