Bulgaria will have 10 instead of 2 European delegated prosecutors. This transpired at an extraordinary meeting of the prosecutors’ college of the Supreme Judicial Council, at which a procedure was launched for the selection of delegated prosecutors for Bulgaria at the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

The applicants must have worked as prosecutors for no less than 8 years, they must be aged under 58, have a good command of English and a very good professional assessment. They have 30 days to submit their applications. A three-member commission will review their applications, there will be a hearing of the applicants shortlisted, after which the entire college will put the nominations to the vote.

According to Bulgaria’s representative at the European Public Prosecutor's Office Teodora Georgieva, who made the announcement of the five-fold increase in the number of Bulgarian delegated prosecutors, this was being done because two prosecutors were not enough for taking charge of all investigations connected with the EU in Bulgaria.
