One in four Bulgarians has considered emigrating. However, 71% say that life in another country is not easy, indicates a survey conducted by Trend sociological agency and commissioned by 24 Chasa newspaper.
The majority of the respondents say that work and education abroad give a better chance of a professional career. 41% say they have relatives living abroad, 27% of the people with relatives in other countries say they receive financial help from them. The majority of the people who expect to receive “emigrant money” are aged over 60.
80% of the people receiving such help state they could not cope without it. According to 61% their relatives emigrated because of the economic situation in Bulgaria. Family and friends are among the reasons cited by 27% for not emigrating, and a good professional career in this country – by 13%.
