The Prosecutor's Office in Struga has opened a case after media reports about a Bulgarian flag set on fire at a carnival in Vevchani, the Media Information Agency reported, quoted by BTA. The case starts over damaging the reputation of a foreign country under Art. 181 of the Criminal Code.

Earlier, Bulgaria handed a sharp verbal note to the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of North Macedonia. Both the ministry and President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski condemned the act. A sharp reaction against the burning of the Bulgarian flag followed from the municipality of Vevchani, which is twin town with Bulgaria’s Melnik.
