Nearly 1 billion euros have been earmarked for technological modernization, green transition and digitalisation for small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria under the EU-funded Recovery Plan, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said in Dimitrovgrad, BTA has reported.

Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev added that talks were underway with the EU to include the districts of Haskovo, Sliven, Yambol, Lovech, Targovishte, Varna, Burgas and Gabrovo to the list of the already approved districts of Stara Zagora, Pernik and Kyustendil, as eligible under the Just Transition Fund. In this way they would also benefit from additional support for coal and carbon-intensive regions, under which Bulgaria would receive almost 1.2 billion euros.
