Bulgarians in Chicago marked Bulgaria’s national day, 3 March in advance, and, for the 15th consecutive year hoisted the Bulgarian flag in the centre of the city.

The event was watched by Bulgarians online. 16 Bulgarian and other companies took part in an arts and crafts bazaar in the centre of Chicago. There were also culinary delights for gourmets, BNR’s correspondent Elena Tsaneva reports.

Meanwhile, for a third year, a “Bulgarian” tree was unveiled in the centre of Chicago – a project by the Bulgarian-American Association inspired by Petranka Stamatova. The tree is festooned with unique handmade martenitsas. It can be seen on Michigan Avenue close to the Art Institute of Chicago until 14 March, our compatriots in Chicago write on their Facebook page.
