Obesity rates are higher in men than in women in Bulgaria

The World Obesity Day is observed globally on March 4. A survey of the European Commission indicates that in 2025 obesity rates in the European Union are expected to increase as compared to 2014.

In 2025, 43.2% of the Bulgarian men will be overweight, as compared to 42.5% in 2014, reads the forecast of the Commission. In 2025, 19% of the Bulgarian men will be obese, whereas in 2014, 16.8% of them were obese. Overweight rate in women is expected to decrease from 28.7% to 28.5%. However, obesity rate in women is projected to increase by 1% to 15.4%, informs clinica.bg.
