There are just 3,500 EVs on Bulgarian roads, according to the latest statistic data from 2018. However, their number has been rising between 20 and 50 percent annually, although the pace is much slower than that in Central and Western Europe, Iliya Levkov, chairman of the Electric Vehicles Industrial Cluster has told BNR.

In addition to electric cars, electric mopeds and motorcycles are also driven in Bulgaria. Plans for the installation of superchargers at highways exist, it was also reported. These would be powerful charging stations for buses and trucks.
