Selling pork from five districts in Bulgaria will once again be allowed in other EU Member States, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has reported.

The European Commission is lifting the ban on meat from the regions of Sofia, Razgrad, Dobrich, Kardzhali and Blagoevgrad, as well as the Varna municipality of Aksakovo, which was imposed because of the African swine flu disease.

For other districts in northern regions of Bulgaria the ban remains in force. The Food Agency recalls that meat from all Bulgarian pig farms can be sold freely in stores in Bulgaria and that it is safe for consumption.
