Bulgaria marks Day of Humor and Joke

Today we celebrate the Day of Humor and Joke, while the Bulgarian Museum of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo celebrates the 49th anniversary of its existence. The main force behind its creation was its first director Stefan Fartunov, a legal adviser by profession, but also an avid collector of anecdotes from the region of Gabrovo.

In addition to their sense of humor, citizens of Gabrovo are also known for their tightness with money. They joke about themselves that "When we have tea, we heat the handles of knives, so that no one can take from the butter", or that "… we cut the tails of the cats so that the door closes faster after them and the room stays warm… ", "On Sunday Gabrovo citizens dance the horo (type of chain dance) wearing slippers in order to listen to the music coming from the neighboring town of Sevlievo for free…”
