No peak in Covid-19 infections is expected after the elections

The gathering of many people during the transmission of the tally sheets will not lead to a new peak in the incidence of coronavirus in the country, said for BNT Dr. Nikolay Branzalov, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Medical Union. At the moment there is no increase in the number of patients and it is even slightly decreasing, he said. The doctor confirmed that all anti-epidemic measures were observed during the elections. In order to avoid crowding in the future, Dr. Nikolay Branzalov recommends the introduction of electronic voting, because it is accurate and objective.

Number of new infections and deaths with Covid-19 goes up again

During the last 24 hours, Bulgaria has reported 3,860 new cases of coronavirus infection with 19,210 tests, according to data from the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. This means that 20% of the samples gave a positive result. The highest number of newly infected people is in Sofia - 1029, in Plovdiv - 384, in Varna - 251, in Stara Zagora - 227 and in Ruse - 167. A total of 2,996 people have been cured. 197 people have died in the past 24 hours.There are currently 10,402 patients in hospital as 734 of them in intensive care units. 58 medics have been infected with Covid-19 yesterday out of a total of 12,203 since the beginning of the epidemic. A total of 6,479 people were vaccinated yesterday. So far, the overall number of vaccinations has reached 510,049, of which 102,427 persons received both doses.

10% more job ads in March

The number of job ads in March has gone up by 10% despite the 10-day lockdown, according to the biggest job advertisement platform in this country. A tendency of an increase in job ads is evident in all sectors of the economy. Analysts say that in March – in the conditions of tighter restrictions – employers reacted more flexibly compared to the same month of last year. Since the beginning of 2021, the tendency towards an increase has been permanent. The demand is highest in “Commerce and sales”, “Industry” and “IT”. 

A minute of silence to honour the memory of medical professionals who died in Covid-19 pandemic

In last year over 120 Bulgarian doctors, nurses, paramedics and ambulance drivers lost their lives fighting to the last with Covid-19 and fulfilling their professional and moral duty with dignity, reads a statement of the Bulgarian Medical Association. On the occasion of the World Health Day, tomorrow at 12.00 noon healthcare professionals from all hospitals and emergency aid centres in the country will observe one minute of silence and with the sirens of the ambulances on they will honour the memory of their deceased colleagues. In Sofia, the ceremony will take place in front of the Monument to the Medical Ranks, located in the garden in front of the Military Medical Academy.
