Bulgaria earns 19 medals at the European Weightlifting Championships in Moscow

Nineteen-year-old Hristo Hristov won two silver medals at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships in Moscow. The Bulgarian athletes scored a brilliant performance at this year's European Weightlifting Championships and earned 19 medals. This country earned 7 total result medals (three gold, three silver and one bronze). Nadezhda Nguyen, Angel Rusev and Stilyan Grozdev won gold medals, Ivana Petrova, Karlos Nasar and Hristo Hristov earned silver medals and Valentin Genchev won a bronze medal. 

This has been Bulgaria’s best performance at European weightlifting championships since the European Weightlifting Championships in Kiev in 2004. Bulgaria has almost certainly earned two male quotas for the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
