President Rumen Radev calls for cabinet united around clear principles

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev has called on the political parties represented at the National Assembly and this country’s outgoing cabinet to show responsibility to amend the state budget. On Saturday morning President Radev launched the presidential initiative “Let’s plant a tree, let’s revive the Bulgarian forest” and planted trees in Plana Mountain not far from Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. Bulgaria’s head of state Radev stressed that it would be extremely irresponsible to leave people without support, when they need it most.

President Radev refused to comment where the third government-forming mandate would go if the second-largest parliamentary group of “There is Such a People” party fails to form a cabinet and whether he was ready with a caretaker cabinet. In President Radev’s view, it is not serious to think about a caretaker cabinet while the procedure for forming a government is underway.

President Radev voiced hopes that the political forces would find a consensus for a government, which enjoys broad parliamentary support and is united around clear principles in the interest of the public. On the other hand, a possible unprincipled coalition would further deepen the crisis in this country, added Bulgaria's head of state Radev.
