Maria Bakalova did not receive the Oscar award for best supporting actress. The winner is Yuh-Jung Youn for her role in Minari. Although Maria Bakalova failed to grab the award, host of the ceremony Brad Pitt compared her to Marilyn Monroe and predicted that a brilliant film career lied ahead of the Bulgarian.

Bakalova was nominated for her role in Sasha Baron Cohen's movie - "Borat 2", where she played the role of Tutar Sagdiyev - Borat's daughter.

The "Borat 2" star seemed to have invented the easiest way to keep a two-meter social distance during the ceremony by wearing a six-meter-wide dress, the BBC commented.
