Bulgaria opens green corridors for vaccination against Covid-19

Bulgaria has opened today green corridors for vaccination against Covid-19 without prior registration. The Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 mRNA vaccine will be predominantly used during the vaccination. However, people can also receive the AstraZeneca jab against Covid-19. The green corridor for Covid-19 vaccination will be open until May 9. 26 vaccination centers have been opened in Bulgaria, including four centers in Sofia, informed the reporter of the Bulgarian National Radio Mila Mladenova.

People waiting to receive a Covid-19 vaccine formed long queues in front of the vaccination centers in Bulgaria. In Sofia, the University Hospital for Active Treatment Alexandrovska, Pirogov Hospital for Emergency Medicine, University Hospital St Anna and the Military Medical Academy opened green corridors for vaccination against Covid-19. The longest queue was in front of Alexandrovska Hospital. People waited for 3-4 hours to get a Covid-19 vaccine, reported the Bulgarian National Radio. One of the people waiting to get a Covid-19 jab told the the BNR's reporter Nadezhda Nikolova that she had booked an appointment for today through the electronic platform, but she learned in the vaccination center that after the green corridors were opened, all registrations were canceled and everyone was waiting in a queue.

Bulgaria reports 1,237 new cases of Covid-19 out of 16,259 tests performed

1,237 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours out of 16,259 tests performed, indicate data of the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. 7.6% of the tests have returned positive result. 6,824 patients are being treated in hospital, 682 of them in intensive care units. 90 people have died and 2,881 people have recovered in the past 24 hours. Almost 27,000 vaccines have been administered in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours. 207,000 people have received their second vaccine dose.

Orthodox Christians mark Good Friday, observe anti-epidemic measures

Orthodox Christians mark Good Friday today. Believers visit the Orthodox churches to attend a Good Friday service. People are observing the anti-epidemic measures- they are wearing masks and are maintaining physical distance from one another, informed the reporter of the Bulgarian National Radio Andrey Borissov who visited the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia.
