The former Chief Secretary of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior Ivaylo Ivanov told journalists that he learned about his dismissal from the media, informed the reporter of the Bulgarian National Radio Nikolay Hristov.

Last Friday, Bulgaria’s head of state Rumen Radev issued a decree to release Chief Commissioner Ivaylo Ivanov from the position of  Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior at the proposal of this country’s caretaker cabinet. Ivaylo Ivanov was released, because of the police violence during last year’s anti-government protests, reads the announcement of this country's caretaker cabinet. “Tension between protesters and law enforcement authorities escalated on September 2, despite the claims of Chief Commissioner Ivanov that the police operation was "perfectly organized". People with aggressive behavior, as well as peacefully protesting citizens and journalists were injured during the clashes”, noted Bulgaria’s caretaker cabinet.
