Covid-19 in Bulgaria: Day 438

10.5% of Bulgarians over 60 with two doses of Covid-19 vaccine

17.5% of all Bulgarians over 60 have been vaccinated with one dose of vaccine against Covid-19 and 10.5% or almost 209,000 with two, the Ministry of Health announced in response to reporters’ questions. Caretaker Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov gave priority to this age group in the work of the green vaccination corridors.
The biggest number of vaccinations is in the 25 to 49 age group – almost 340,000.

Number of daily Covid-19 recoveries 6 times higher than number of new infections

457 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours. 3.3% of the 13,794 tests performed returned a positive result, according to the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. The highest number of newly registered infections is in Sofia-city - 67. The district of Varna follows with 39, Plovdiv with 35 and Sofia district with 32. Not a single case has been registered in Razgrad district.
The decline in the number of hospitalizations continues. 4,379 patients are being treated in hospital fewer by 213 compared to the previous day. 485 are in intensive care wards. 30,483 is the number of active cases.
36 people with Covid-19 have died in the past 24 hours. The number of recoveries is 2,782.
26,071 doses of vaccine were administered in the past day bringing the total number of vaccinations to 1,161,048. A total of 440,924 people have already completed the immunization cycle and have received 2 vaccine doses.

Students shift to in-person learning, stadiums open at 50% capacity

On May 19, Bulgaria lifts the ban for in-person classes at the universities, reads an order issued by this country’s caretaker Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov.
Sports events are allowed, provided that no more than 50% of the capacity of the premises is used.
The final match of the Bulgarian Football Cup will be played tonight. Following Minister Katsarov’s order, a total of 20,000 spectators can attend the Football Cup final between Arda 1924 (Kardzhali) and CSKA (Sofia).
