On the eve of May 24

Charity concert unites Bulgarian artists from 8 countries

Author:

An online concert entitled “Celebrating Bulgarian Culture Around the World” will bring together talented Bulgarian musicians from several countries, following the credo that art knows no boundaries.

The event is scheduled for 18.00 pm Bulgarian time on May 23, on the eve of the Day of Slavonic Alphabet, Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture.

On May 24 we celebrate the beauty of our language and the spread of our culture around the world. Nowadays, the world is easily accessible and people are broad-minded. The fact that we live abroad has enabled us to become ambassadors of Bulgarian language and culture”, contend the organizers of the event. That is why talented Bulgarians, as well as people involved in the preservation and the popularization of Bulgaria’s culture, folklore, theater, poetry and prose, were invited to participate at the event.

The prominent Bulgarian musician, actor and singer Dobrin Vekilov-Doni, saxophonist Vladimir Karparov, Ukraine-born Bessarabian Bulgarian Kristina Zhechkova, harpist Tsvetelina Likova and other renowned artists will join the event with their music performances and messages. Kaloyan Bukovski from London has more:

“The event lasts two weeks. A charity campaign will also take place. The non-profit organization “Teach for Bulgaria” came up with the initiative. It aims to create a free of charge educational methodology for bilingual children– children in Bulgaria whose mother tongue is not Bulgarian and Bulgarian children living abroad. I believe that these educational tools, which can be adapted to a given cultural and educational environment, will become increasingly popular, taking into account the fact that more than 2 million Bulgarians live around the world.”

The project of Teach for Bulgaria Foundation builds on another project, fulfilled within the frameworks of Erasmus+ programme for education, training, youth and sport, which aims to create educational materials supporting Bulgarian language studies in the first grade. The current charity campaign aims to assist in the development of materials supporting education in the second grade. The educational materials include a system of richly illustrated language games, detailed instructions and additional audio and video files.

Bulgarians living in eight countries on three continents are to join the concert, in order to support this cause, said the event’s organizer Kaloyan Bukovski. Kaloyan works as a senior consultant in the financial sector and is engaged in a series of social activities. The Senior Manager of New Time Bulgarians festival of art and science organizes a number of events aimed to unite the Bulgarian community in the United Kingdom. “We deserve to have days of the year to remember that we are an asset to the world”, said Kaloyan Bukovski on the occasion of May 24- the Day of Slavonic Alphabet, Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture.
