Three masked and armed men tried to steal a large sum of money from the Central Post Office in Vidin early this morning. The men broke into the post office through a back entrance, tied the guards up, then entered the vault, but failed to take the money in it.
According to preliminary information, there were over 500,000 euros in the vault, ready for the payment of pensions in the city. At a briefing, Vidin Deputy District Prosecutor Vladislav Vlashev confirmed that the robbery attempt was unsuccessful. He pointed out the "terrible irresponsibility" shown by "Bulgarian Posts" in the storage and protection of the funds and described as a "lucky coincidence" the fact that the crime remained unfinished. Work on all possible versions, including that for leaked inside information continue.
