If no measures were taken to provide medical staff, hospitals would face a catastrophe in a few years, chairman of the Bulgarian Medical Association, Dr. Ivan Madzharov, has told BNR.

"There will be no nurses in the hospitals in five years, if something is not done" he said. According to him, incentives should be considered for medical and nursing staff, in order to provide "young and fresh blood in the veins of the healthcare system" fast.

According to Dr. Ivan Madzharov, there were reason for us to worry about a new Covid-19 wave because of the delta variant of the virus. He added that public transport was the last place where the requirement for wearing masks should be lifted.
