"Remember the past, build the future, keep traditions alive!" is the motto of this year's folklore festival in the Shoppe region, which is held in the period June 21 to 27th in Elin Pelin.

The municipality has prepared thematic events for every day of the week, in order to make guests of the holiday acquainted with the local customs, traditions and talents. "The region of Elin Pelin is a preserved center of the Shoppe traditions and its citizens are known for their diligence and wit, perseverance and even stubbornness, but also for their sense of beauty, which is evident in the songs, fast dances and the folk costumes," organizers of the event, which has more than 50 years of history say. The sister municipality of Leskovac in Serbia will join the holiday through the cross-border project "Magic of Synergies."
