Tsvetozar Tomov, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), commented that the commission cannot prevent institutional sabotage during the upcoming election.

“There will be attempts at sabotage at section election commissions, and at regional election commissions. There are such attempts at the Central Election Commission. This is the kind of situation in which we are holding these elections. It is far from easy.”

Tsvetozar Tomov’s words at the regular CEC briefing drew a sharp response from the commission members from GERB party and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. They demanded that he specify when he is speaking from a personal and party position, and when he is speaking on behalf of the CEC. The argument continued after the microphones were shut down and the press conference was brought to an abrupt end.
