Foreign Minister Svetlan Stoev received Cardinal Marcello Semeraro from the Vatican with whom he discussed the intensification of bilateral relations in recent years.

Minister Stoev acquainted Cardinal Semeraro with Bulgaria’s initiative, launched by President Rumen Radev, for presenting the manuscript of “History of Bulgaria” in this country. It is the work of Catholic bishop Petar Bogdan, written around one century before Paisius of Hilendar’s “Slavonic-Bulgarian history” which was written in the 18th century, and is kept in Modena.

“We shall be happy to see this manuscript presented at the National Library in Sofia in the autumn,” Svetlan Stoev said.

Cardinal Semeraro thanked Bulgaria for its hospitality and pointed out that it was appreciated also by Pope Francis during his visit to the country in 2019.

“The Bulgarian land is a crossroads where cultures and people meet, and of these meetings among peoples Europe was born,” the Cardinal said.
