Haulers protest at the Bulgaria-Romania border

Photo: Nezabravka Kirova

A protest took place in the town of Silistra, located on the bank of the Danube River. The protesters are dissatisfied with the fact that the Bulgaria-Romania border crossing near the city is closed for cargo vehicles. Carriers, traders and farmers insist that those, whose contractors in Romania are located at the land border, be allowed to cross the checkpoint, because using the ferry line outside the city costs a lot of money and time.

Farmers left rotten cherries and apricots in front of the District Administration building to show what happens to their produce when they have to travel long distances.
