“The plan of action in the event of one more wave of Covid-19 introduces criteria for concrete anti-epidemic measures depending on the number of infections per 100,000 people,” Prof. Mira Kozhuharova, adviser to the minister of health said in an interview for the BNR’s Horizont channel. Under the plan GPs will be involved more actively because the bulk of the coronavirus patients are treated at home. "In the autumn schools must open to in-person attendance", Prof. Kozhuharova said.

“In the event of the spread of the Delta variant we shall probably have to go back to some of the stricter measures. Public facilities and spaces will only be closed as a last resort, if hospitalizations exceed 9,000. The plan relies on people taking the vaccine after all, and also that a minimum of one-third of people in Bulgaria will have contracted and recovered from the infection,” Prof. Kozhuharova explained.
