Problems with voting machines have been reported in different places on election day. Following a decision adopted by this country’s Central Election Commission, voting by paper ballots takes place in 56 polling stations due to voting machine problems. According to the commission’s spokesperson Tsvetozar Tomov, such problems were expected, because at previous elections between half and one percent of the devices had technical problems.
"Traditionally there are problems with the composition of the sectional election commissions. Some people do not show up and there are last-minute replacements in some commissions", said the Spokesperson of the Central Election Commission. Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Interior Boyko Rashkov announced that so far, no serious violations of the election process have been reported.
