As of 26 July Bulgaria is closing its borders to foreign nationals from Malta, Andorra and Georgia due to the worsening epidemiological situation in these countries. The restriction is already in place for Great Britain, Spain, Kuwait and Cyprus. Bulgarian citizens and their families arriving from these countries will be allowed to enter Bulgaria provided they present a negative Covid-19 test, whether they are vaccinated or not.

The Ministry of Health is making an exception for the Netherlands. It too is in the red zone, nevertheless foreign citizens arriving from the Netherlands will be allowed to enter Bulgaria with a PCR test. There are around 10 charter flights from the Netherlands to Bulgaria every week, BGNES reports.
