Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev handed over an exploratory mandate to form a government to the largest parliamentary party, "There is such a people" (ITN). The party's prime ministerial candidate is Plamen Nikolov, a doctor of philosophy of law, an entrepreneur and MP in the 46th National Assembly. He was also a member of the 45th National Assembly.
Nikolov was born in 1977. He has studied in Austria and the USA. He has worked with large companies such as Amazon, Intersport, EMAG, Olympic National Committees and others.
Plamen Nikolov's nomination was not known until the last moment.
Upon their arrival at the presidency, the ITN representatives were greeted in front of the Presidency building by a protest of the People's Movement to change the system.
After the official handing of the mandate, ITN nominee Plamen Nikolov announced his and his party's priorities: "the recovery and sustainability plan; the upcoming Covid crisis; pensions - we want to recalculate everything as it should be; we also have commitments to our voters on theelectoral system, majority voting and judicial reform."
Slavi Trifonov's party will have seven days to form a cabinet. In case they do not receive support from the other parties, the mandate goes to the second largest parliamentary group.
