The director general of the Bulgarian National Radio, Andon Baltakov, has filed a request for early termination of his contract for media management as of August 6, 2021.

"The motives for my decision are deeply personal, which is why I sincerely ask for restraint from analysis and comments... I believe that the Electronic Media Council will select a leader who is not bound by political or economic interests and who will continue to work on the transformation of the organization," Baltakov wrote in a message to BNR employees.

Andon Baltakov took office in January 2020 after a management crisis in the media. Prior to joining BNR, he has held managerial positions at CNN, the Associated Press and others.
