Around 1,000 people have been wiretapped and investigated, announced Nikolay Hadjigenov, chairman of the temporary parliamentary committee looking into police brutality during last year’s protests.

The committee has three lists with the names of 132 people who were wiretapped, among them politicians, journalists, public figures, people running for parliament and one prosecutor. The use of special investigative means was authorized by the specialized court. Material from the wiretapping was destroyed at interior ministry departments which carried out illegal activity, Nikolay Hadjigenov stated further. In his words, the prosecutor’s office is sabotaging the work of the committee.
