1,600 hectares of woodland has burnt in 219 wildfires in the country since the beginning of the year. That is why the Forests Agency is demanding the formation of a specialized aviation unit to help the efforts to extinguish wildfires. According to an Agency analysis over 80% of all forest fires occur outside forest areas and only then spread to them. Most often this happens while pastures or uncultivated farmland is being cleared.

Proposals have been made for an update of the administrative procedures for imposing sanctions on land owners.
