Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov demanded the resignation of 4 out of the 5 members of the board of directors of VMZ Sopot arms and ammunition manufacturer, as well as of the Executive Director of the State Consolidation Company, which the military factory is part of. This was announced by Ministrer Petkov himself after a meeting with representatives of the trade unions in the military factory.

“Since the new board of directors was appointed in April, VMZ Sopot has not been implementing its contracts, and the losses over the space of a few months are around 6 million Leva,” Kiril Petkov said. He added that he has no criticism to make of the work of CEO Ivan Getsov.

Minister Petkov went to Sopot to quell social tensions among TU members who stated that they will stage a protest in Sofia on 24 August.
