The Ministry of Defense needs EUR 2.1 million a month to address migration pressure, caretaker Minister of Defense Georgi Panayotov said in the National Assembly. However, the ministry would receive the money, if the National Assembly amends the state budget.

The plans for protection of the Bulgaria-Greece and the Bulgaria-Turkey borders envisage the deployment of 1,050 soldiers and 145 units of equipment. During the parliamentary debates,  Minister Panayotov has denied GERB’s accusations that Bulgaria’s caretaker cabinet is negotiating the purchase of 8 new F-16 fighter jets.
