On September 6, 2021, when Bulgaria marks the 136th anniversary since the Unification of Bulgaria, the guests and residents of the town of Plovdiv will be able to visit the latest exposition of the Regional Historical Museum free of charge.
The exposition is named “Plovdiv on the road to the modern world”. The exposition is displayed in the renovated southern wing of the Eastern Rumelia Regional Assembly on Saedinenie 1 square. It is the first exposition in Plovdiv, which traces the modernization of the city from the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1978 until the second half of the 20th century. During that time, Plovdiv turned from a typical oriental town into an industrial center and cultural capital of Bulgaria. Original exhibits are evidence of various transformations that took place in Plovdiv including water supply, electrification, new urban solutions, industrialization, rapid technological change, etc.
