Nearly 95% of the hospitalized patients and the people who died from Covid-19 are unvaccinated, Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov said for the BNR. In his words, 4 out of 100 unvaccinated people with established coronavirus infection die from Covid-19, whereas only one vaccinated person out of 1,000 vaccinated people with established coronavirus infection becomes victim of Covid-19.
Minister Katsarov added that the vaccination of senior citizens was his priority. Premier Boyko Borissov decided to stop the vaccination with AstraZeneca himself and when Bulgaria resumed inoculations with the AstraZeneca vaccine, no one wanted to receive this vaccine and 4.5 million negotiated doses remained unused, noted Stoycho Katsarov. This led to negative attitudes towards vaccines, commented Minister Katsarov.
