Three sections of Hemus motorway and 10 repaired dams are illegal, announced Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Komitova and this country’s caretaker Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov.

Today, Minister Petkov will refer the case regarding the illegal repair works to the Prosecutor’s Office and dismiss the last member of the previous Board of Directors of the State Consolidation Company. According to Bulgaria’s caretaker Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Shishkov, the state is the biggest violator of the Spatial Development Act.

“We are talking about an appalling practice where a lot of money is involved”, added Minister Violeta Komitova. In her words, the construction of one kilometer of Hemus Motorway costs EUR 8.5 million. For his part, Kiril Petkov said that the 10 repaired water dams are rather new facilities without any construction permits. Other 30 water dams are the most dangerous in Bulgaria. However, they were not chosen for reconstruction and repair, added Minister Petkov.
