Conductor Valery Gergiev – one of the most influential musicians of our time – has joined the initiative for building a new music complex in this country.

The benefit concert is at 8.30 PM tonight, September 10. Soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, alongside musicians from the Sofia Philharmonic, will be performing tonight on the stage of “Bulgaria” hall under the baton of Valery Gergiev.  The programme features works by Prokofiev, Rachmaninov and Stravinsky. The seating space in “Bulgaria” hall is in compliance with the anti-epidemic measures in place in the country.

The idea of building a new acoustic music complex in Bulgaria, with the potential of developing into a cultural hub for generations of young people, and of placing Sofia on the world map of leading cultural centres, has brought together leading musicians and music institutions.

At the beginning of this year the cause received the support of the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, who is now patron of the initiative.
