Active coronavirus cases in Bulgaria are nearly 40,000

There were 1,862 new coronavirus cases in this country registered in the past day as 7.5% of 24,745 tests returned positive result, according to the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. The newly infected are 167 less in comparison to Wednesday and the infection rate has declined by 2 percent. The highest number of newly infected was registered in Sofia - 332. Varna follows with 167 new cases; Plovdiv - 149, Blagoevgrad - 125 and Burgas - 113.

The number of registered active cases has reached 39,906 and 4,582 patients are in hospital. There are 396 people in intensive care. 65 people with coronavirus infection have passed away for a day and 1,437 patients recovered.

10,285 vaccines were administered on Wednesday. The total number of administered vaccine doses in Bulgaria has reached 2,437,295.
