Fewer and fewer Bulgarian diplomas are being certified for studying at universities abroad, the Ministry of Education says.
1,536 out of all people who graduated last year have been given an apostille on their secondary education certificate. A total of 2,652 documents have been certified, including by people who have graduated in previous years. In 2020 the number of diplomas was 3,678, and in 2019 – 4,683.
The drop in the number of people wishing to study abroad is due to Brexit, to the Covid-19 pandemic and to the falling number of people graduating secondary school.
The most preferred countries for studying at university in 2021 were Germany, Greece and Italy; in 2020 they were Germany, Greece and Great Britain.
