BAS scientist Venelin Todorov is the winner of 2021 John Atanasoff Prize

At a ceremony in the Coat of Arms Hall, Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev presented the awards to this year's laureates of the John Atanassov Award Presidential Initiative.

The winner of the John Atanasoff Grand Prize for 2021 is Dr. Venelin Todorov - Doctor of Mathematics from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Algorithms developed by Todorov are used in modelling neural networks in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, high-performance computing in quantum mechanics and financial mathematics.

The John Atanasoff award is given annually to young Bulgarian scientists in the field of computer science with exceptional results. Among its laureates are current leaders in leading research institutes and global companies that develop their skills in cryptology, computational linguistics, robotics, quantum technology.

The award was presented for the 19th consecutive year.
