Bulgaria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs Nickolay Mladenov is the second Bulgarian named in the international investigation “Pandora Papers”, according to bird.bg, the Bulgarian partner of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. Several days ago, former MP Delyan Peevski was also named in the “Pandora Papers”. Mladenov’s company Afron Enterprises was registered on the Seychelles on August 9, 2013, via a Swiss intermediary. It existed until 2017. However, Mladenov did not declare this company at the UN.
The media contacted Nikolay Mladenov who explained that after the end of his term as Minister of Foreign Affairs, he intended to start a consulting business, but the opportunity to work for the United Nations changed his plans and he forgot about the registered company. In his words, the company never operated and had no accounts.
