Bulgaria reports distressing number of daily Covid-19 infections and deaths

4,979 are the new cases of coronavirus for the past day. This is 18.6% of the 26,780 tests performed, according to the National Coronavirus Information Portal. The number of newly infected is the highest for the fourth pandemic wave in the country. 84.23% of the newly infected persons were not vaccinated.

There are 63,241 registered active patients. A total of 6,258 patients are currently in hospitals as 537 of them are in intensive care units. Of the 1,251 patients admitted to hospitals in the past day, 89.21% were not vaccinated.

In the last 24 hours, 214 people with established Covid-19 have died. 95% of them are unvaccinated. The death toll is also the highest for the fourth wave of the pandemic. The reported recoveries in the past day are 2,009.

A total of 6,201 vaccines were administered on Monday. There are now 1,388,405 fully immunized citizens.
