17.4% rise in mortality marked compared to past year

A serious rise in mortality in Bulgaria during the coronavirus crisis is seen in data released today by the National Statistical Institute. 30,071 people died in the past three months of the year. This is 17.4% more than the same period a year earlier.

In all districts of the country with the exception of Smolyan district there has been a rise in the absolute number of deaths in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. The number of deaths marked the biggest rise in Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte and Razgrad.
