Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov called for a broad-based political consensus with regard to the projects for the modernization of the army.

Bulgaria’s defence “is not consistent with the rates of armament and rearmament of the neighbouring countries,” Admiral Eftimov said in an interview for BNR. “And the reason for this is that there is no consensus for the accelerated development of the army’s capabilities, for its modernization on a large scale. And I am afraid to say that as the years pass by it will grow to be inadequate to developments in the region,” Emil Eftimov stated, and called on the future parliament to urgently approve the money for 3D radars.
