The Central Election Commission has not allowed the use of additional voting machines at the two-in-one elections on November 14, even in the form of spare parts, if they were not included in a public procurement order, the commission’s Spokesperson Tsvetozar Tomov said for the BNR. Earlier, it became clear that the machines' supplier Ciela Norma stores additional 427 devices. There are discrepancies in terms of the company's explanations, Tsvetozar Tomov commented.

The appearance of additional voting machines is aimed at discrediting the forthcoming elections, Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Justice Ivan Demerdzhiev said. The government will do everything necessary to ensure fair elections, Minister Demerdzhiev added.

The Central Election Commission has sent a letter to Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, requesting an inspection to establish whether there is evidence that a crime has been committed with the delivery of voting machines by Ciela Norma outside of a public procurement procedure.
